Our workshop is currently manufacturing steel components for a major university project, with a total structural steel demand of approximately 7,000 tons. The project features multi-story steel frame structures, and current production is focused on the basement steel core columns, which play an important role in the overall structural system.
High-Strength Steel Columns for Multi-Story Steel Structures
The main material for the steel columns is high-strength Q460B steel, while Q355B steel is used for the supporting brackets. The columns feature a specialized cross-shaped-to-box-shaped configuration, designed to meet the structural requirements of the project.
The internal cavities of the box-shaped sections will be filled with concrete at a later stage. To enhance the composite action between steel and concrete, shear studs are fully welded to the inner walls of the steel sections. This arrangement is designed to help the steel and concrete work together under structural loads.

Precision Fabrication for Reliable Structural Connections
To facilitate subsequent connections with reinforced concrete beams, reinforcement bar holes, sleeves, and connection plates are pre-arranged on the column bodies during fabrication. These details are carefully coordinated with the project requirements to support accurate installation and efficient on-site assembly.
The column end faces also undergo end milling. This process helps achieve flat, uniform surfaces, remove irregularities associated with cutting and welding, and improve the accuracy of column-to-column alignment and load transfer at the joints.
Quality-Focused Steel Structure Manufacturing
Manufacturing multi-story steel frame components requires careful control of material selection, fabrication dimensions, welding quality, and connection details. Each process must follow the approved drawings and applicable project specifications to ensure that the finished components meet the required standards.
From high-strength steel fabrication to specialized column processing and connection preparation, our workshop is progressing with the production of these structural components to support the project’s subsequent construction stages.

Supporting Complex Steel Structure Projects
This project demonstrates our manufacturing experience in multi-story steel frames and complex steel column assemblies. We continue to focus on fabrication precision, production coordination, and quality control to meet the requirements of demanding steel structure projects.
